General Information
Term adult ventral lateral neck muscle 1 ID (Ontology) FBbt:00053184 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Long ventral neck muscle that attaches to a relatively lateral part of the sternal apodeme compared to other ventral muscles and lateral to the VL2 muscle (Gorko et al., 2024). It attaches via a long tendon to the posterior head (Gorko et al., 2024). It is innervated by the CvN5-8 motor neurons (Gorko et al., 2024).[ FlyBase:FBrf0259326 ]
Also Known As "VL1 muscle"
Comment Based on lateral attachment to sternal apodeme and tendon connecting to posterior head, VL1 and VL2 probably correspond to muscle 27 in Miller (1950) - FBrf0186027.
