General Information
Term embryonic tendon precursor cell ID (Ontology) FBbt:00053268 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Immature tendon cell of the embryo (Volk, 1999). It arises from the ectoderm (Volk, 1999). It produces signals that attract a developing muscle towards the attachment site (Schweitzer et al., 2010). Only a subset of these, which become bound to a myotube, develop into mature tendon cells (Volk, 1999), and the others dedifferentiate (Soler et al., 2016).[ FlyBase:FBrf0112069 FlyBase:FBrf0211520 FlyBase:FBrf0230923 ]
Comment Can be identified based on expression of Stripe (Volk et al., 1999).
