Term comet stage spermatid ID (Ontology) FBbt:00057174 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition An early elongation-stage spermatid of length 35-120 micrometers resembling a comet, with a bipartite parallel mitochondrial derivative that developed from the Nebenkern, with its diameter decreasing from 5 to 1 micrometers. The cytoplasmic inclusions in the mitochondrial derivative gradually disappear. The nucleus is round and clear.[ FlyBase:FBrf0064778 ]
