Definition An indirect flight muscle that functions as a wing elevator. It has a dorsal attachment site in the mid notum and a ventral attachment site in the metathoracic preepisternum, dorsoanterior to the coxa. It is posterior to the tergosternal and anterior to the lateral oblique dorsal muscles.
