Term accessory trochanter levator muscle ID (Ontology) FBbt:00059096 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Adult leg muscle that originates at the distal end of the coxa, on the opposite surface to the trochanter levator muscle, and attaches to the trochanter, in a similar position to the trochanter levator tendon (Soler et al., 2004; Azevedo et al., 2024). It flexes the coxa-trochanter joint (Azevedo et al., 2024). It is composed of 3 fibers (Soler et al., 2004).[ FlyBase:FBrf0180184 FlyBase:FBrf0259940 ]

Comment Referred to as 'trochanter reductor' by Soler et al. (2004), but proposed to flex the coxa-trochanter joint by Azevedo et al. (2024), i.e. is a levator muscle.
