ID (Ontology) |
FBbt:00003860 (Fly Anatomy) |
| Definition |
Lobula tangential neuron that sends a thick projection into the proximal lobula that bifurcates, with the combined dendritic arbors of both branches spanning the entire tangential extent of lobula layer 2 (Fischbach and Dittrich, 1989; Tanaka and Clark, 2022). Its axon innervates the ventrolateral protocerebrum (Otsuna and Ito, 2006). There are approximately four of these cells per hemisphere (Tanaka and Clark, 2022).[ FlyBase:FBrf0049410 FlyBase:FBrf0193607 FlyBase:FBrf0253297 ] |
| Also Known As |
"lobular tangential neuron 1" ; "lobular tangential neuron LT1" ; "LT1" |
| Comment |
Pre- versus postsynaptic innervation judged by scoring of terminal morphology from figures in Fischbach and Dittrich (1989). Nern et al. (2025) - FBrf0262545 split this into LT1a, LT1b, LT1c and LT1d, but these subtypes were not identified at light level. |
