General Information
Term adult olfactory receptor neuron Or35a ID (Ontology) FBbt:00067039 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Olfactory receptor neuron (ORN) that expresses the Odorant receptor (Or) 35a (Benton et al., 2025). Its dendrite transduces signals from an antennal coeloconic ac3 sensillum (of either type) (Benton et al., 2009; Prieto-Godino et al., 2017). Its axon innervates antennal lobe glomerulus VC3, bilaterally, fasciculating with the antennal lobe commissure (Couto et al., 2005; Schlegel et al., 2021). It detects alcohols produced by yeast and is required for the enhancement of the proboscis extension reflex in response to yeast odors in combination with low-viscosity food (Oh et al., 2021). It develops from an Nba precursor (Benton et al., 2025).
