Term posterior signaling center of lymph gland primary lobe ID (Ontology) FBbt:00100310 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition A cluster of specialized signaling cells at the posterior tip of the primary lobe of the larval lymph gland that serves as a niche that regulates the differentiation of prohemocytes into plasmatocytes, crystal cells and lamellocytes (Krzemien et al., 2007; Mandal et al., 2007). It arises from cells of the embryonic metathoracic segment and it can be distinguished as a distinct region of the lymph gland in the late embryo (Mandal et al., 2007).[ FlyBase:FBrf0194088 FlyBase:FBrf0194113 FlyBase:FBrf0241407 ]
