Definition Serotonergic neuron whose cell body is located in the anterodorsal brain, in a cluster anterior to the serotonergic SP2 neurons. There are approximately two cells in the larva and two to three cells in the adult (Giang et al., 2011).[ FlyBase:FBrf0048551 FlyBase:FBrf0158877 ]
Also Known As "SP1" ; "supraesophageal ganglion neuron 1"
Comment The name SP1 is more commonly used to refer to an unrelated neuron (FBbt:00001367) that contributes to the ventral nerve cord in the larva.
