OtopLalexA1 adults exhibit decreased repulsion to low pH (HCl, tartaric acid, glycolic acid, citric acid, acetic acid and propionic acid), assessed in proboscis extension response assays; the mild attraction to 0.01mM HCl in binary and proboscis extension response assays is eliminated. Small labellar gustatory sensilla (S-b) S3, S5, S9 and intermediate labellar gustatory sensilla (I-b) I8 show decreased HCL- and tartaric acid-induced action potentials; large labellar gustatory sensilla 7 show decreased HCL-induced action potentials.
