Description
Description
Glycerol-3-phosphate O-acyltransferases are involved in the de novo synthesis of triacylglycerol (TAG) and glycerophospholipids, and thus are important for lipid storage/transport and membrane biogenesis. Specifically, they catalyze the first step in TAG synthesis, converting glycerol-3-phospate (G3P) to lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) by the transfer of a fatty acid from acyl-CoA.
