Site of nucleotide substitution in mutant inferred by FlyBase curator based on reported amino acid change.
The embryonic dorsal vessel forms normally in homozygous Mef225-34 embryos. In contrast, there is a dramatic decrease in somatic musculature and malformed midguts in these mutant embryos.
Mef225-34/Mef265 trans-heterozygotes exhibit a wild-type pattern and number of dorsal longitudinal indirect flight muscles.
