      Cycle 12 embryos derived from mothers expressing bcdΔK50-57.T:Avic\GFP-YFP.Venus have a nucleo-cytoplasmic ratio of approximately 8 (compared to 1 when wild type bcd is expressed under the same 5' and 3' control sequences). Nuclear import ability is decreased by ~4 fold and nuclear lifetime by ~2 fold.

      The bcdΔK50-57.T:Avic\GFP-YFP.Venus transgene does not rescue the sterility seen in homozygous bcdunspecified females. Cuticles from mothers homozygous for bcdunspecified that carry two copies of the mutant transgene resemble the null phenotype.
