Detailed Description
	Statement Reference Fertile when in combination with Dp(1;Y)B^SYy⁺ or Dp(1;Y)y⁺mal¹²⁶ and weakly fertile when in combination with Dp(1;Y)mal⁺. (Rahman and Lindsley, 1981) Heterozygotes with Dp(1;Y)y⁺mal⁺ are very weakly fertile. Fertility is higher in combination with Dp(1;Y)y⁺mal¹²⁶. (Rahman and Lindsley, 1980) Macrochaetae only about two-thirds normal length, most conspicuous on posterior scutellar bristles; abdominal tergites 'etched' on sides, giving flies a 'side abnormal' effect. Males wild-type in presence of normal Y chromosome, due to Ybb. (Bridges and Brehme, 1944)

Discoverer	Sturtevant Feb. 1920.

Comments
	Designation "bb⁵" attributed to Sturtevant. Phenotype variable, overlaps wild-type. What is now referred to as bb¹ was derived from fifth finding of bb. First allele found was lost. (Bridges and Brehme, 1944)
