UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a chimeric construct in which part of kek1 has been replaced with the corresponding region of kek2. The chimeric protein consists of the LRRs and Ig domain of kek1 and the juxta/transmembrane and cytoplasmic regions of kek2 and is tagged at the C-terminal end with GFP.
Expression of kek1::kek2LI.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4CY2 results in eggs with slightly ventralised chorions. Expression of kek1::kek2LI.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF results in eyes which are either wild type or have a slightly rough phenotype. Expression of kek1::kek2LI.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI results in about 30% lethality.
