UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a chimeric construct in which part of kek1 has been replaced with the corresponding region of kek2. The chimeric protein consists of the LRRs (including the cysteine-rich flanks) of kek1 and the Ig, juxta/transmembrane and cytoplasmic regions of kek2 and is tagged at the C-terminal end with GFP.
Expression of kek1::kek2L.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4CY2 results in eggs with either wild type or slightly ventralised chorions. Expression of kek1::kek2L.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF results in eyes which are either wild type or have a slightly rough phenotype. Expression of kek1::kek2L.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI results in about 30% lethality.
