Adults expressing ND-23KK102085 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU show severe decreases in lifespan and in locomotor capacity in negative geotaxis assays, and show progressive ommatidium defects (no defects in day 1, decreased number of photoreceptors in day 4 and hardly distinguishable photoreceptors by day 12), and progressive vacuolization of the retina (large vacuoles are detected by day 20, but not by day 4), but do not exhibit obvious synaptic network defects downstream of photoreceptors or brain abnormalities, as compared to controls. Adults expressing ND-23KK102085 under the control of Scer\GAL4repo.PU show no decrease in lifespan or in locomotor capacity in negative geotaxis assays, but display massive vacuolization throughout the cortical regions of the brain and optic lobes by day 4, as well as severe increases in the number and size of lipid droplets (assessed by Nile Red or Bodipy staining or EYFP-perilipin-2 fluorescence) in glial cells at the border between the cortex and the neuropile, as compared to controls.

Flies expressing Jafrac1Scer\UAS.cHa in neurons under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 show a dramatic reduction in lifespan compared with wild-type.

Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

The decreased lifespan and the ommatidium defects observed in adults expressing ND-23KK102085 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU, as well as the increased number and size of lipid droplets in the brain induced by the expression of ND-23KK102085 under the control of Scer\GAL4repo.PU, are not suppressed by the co-expression of PfkUAS.cTa.

Co-expression of PfkScer\UAS.cTa significantly improves the survival of flies expressing Scer\GAL4elav-C155>ND-23KK102085.

Co-expression of ZwScer\UAS.cLa significantly improves the survival of flies expressing Scer\GAL4elav-C155>ND-23KK102085.

Xenogenetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

The decreased lifespan, the decreased locomotor capacity and the ommatidium defects observed in adults expressing ND-23KK102085 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU are partially or fully suppressed by the co-expression of Hsap\SLC2A3UAS.cBa.

Co-expression of Hsap\SLC2A3Scer\UAS.cBa significantly suppresses the life-expectancy defects resulting from the expression of Scer\GAL4elav-C155>ND-23KK102085.
