UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a short inverted repeat.
The expression of PheRS-mHMC05742 under the control of Scer\GAL4da.PU leads to developmental delay during the larval stage and arrest at the second instar stage; larvae are significantly smaller than controls; larvae show increased levels of mtDNA.
Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU also leads to developmental delay at both larval and pupal stages; adults exhibit a smaller brain, with loosely packed mitochondria with disorganized cristae, giving mitochondria a honeycomb-like appearance.
Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4eya.enh1+E+2 results in a glossy eye phenotype.
