General Information
Term stereocilia tip link ID (Ontology) GO:0002140 (Gene Ontology)
Definition A stereocilia link that is formed by a fine filament running more or less vertically upward from the tip of each shorter stereocilium to attach at a higher point on its adjacent taller neighbor. Tilting the bundle puts tension on the filaments, which pull on mechanically gated ion channels in the membrane of the stereocilia.[ PubMed:1108787 ]
