Term vestibulocochlear nerve maturation ID (Ontology) GO:0021647 (Gene Ontology)
Definition A developmental process, independent of morphogenetic (shape) change, that is required for the vestibulocochlear nerve to attain its fully functional state. This sensory nerve innervates the membranous labyrinth of the inner ear. The vestibular branch innervates the vestibular apparatus that senses head position changes relative to gravity.
