Term conversion of discoidal high-density lipoprotein particle to spherical high-density lipoprotein particle ID (Ontology) GO:0034376 (Gene Ontology)
Definition The process in which a discoidal high-density lipoprotein (HDL) particle acquires additional lipid or protein molecules, and cholesterol in the particle is converted to tightly bound cholesterol esters by the action of phosphatidylcholine-sterol O-acyltransferase (lecithin cholesterol acyltransferase; LCAT), resulting in the formation of a spherical HDL particle.
Also Known As "conversion of discoidal HDL to spherical HDL"
