General Information
Term mitochondrial translation preinitiation complex ID (Ontology) GO:0180053 (Gene Ontology)
Definition A ribonucleoprotein complex comprising of the 28S small mitoribosomal subunit (mt-SSU) and mitochondrial initiation factors (e.g. mtIF3 and mtIF2-GTP) and the initiator tRNA-Met and an mRNA binding. The early steps of translation initiation, including the association of the 28S mitochondrial small subunit (mt-SSU) with initiation factors (mtIF3 and mtIF2), prevention of premature large subunit (39S) joining occur during the assembly of the mitochondrial pre-initiation complex (mtPIC).[ PubMed:32522994 ]
