Jockey retrotransposons are LINE elements (SO:0000194) found only in arthropods. The full-length element is ~ 5 kb and contains two open reading frames (SO:0000236), ORF1 (568 aa) and ORF2 (916 aa), the second of which encodes an apurinic endonuclease (APE) and a reverse transcriptase (RT).[ PubMed:31709017 ] |
