| Definition |
Terminal inverted repeat transposons in the PIF/Harbinger/tourist superfamily create 3-bp target site duplication that are mainly 'TAA' or 'TTA'. The autonomous PIF-Harbinger elements are relatively small in size, usually a few kb in length. Non-autonomous elements in this superfamily usually shorter than 600 bp are referrred to as Tourist elements. The terminal sequences for PIF/Harbinger/Tourist elements are 'GGG/CCC…GGC/GCC' or 'GA/GGCA…TGCC/TC'.[ PubMed:26709091 ] |
