Term postsynaptic specialization of symmetric synapse ID (Ontology) GO:0099629 (Gene Ontology)
Definition A network of proteins within and adjacent to the postsynaptic membrane of a symmetric synapse, consisting of anchoring and scaffolding molecules, signaling enzymes and cytoskeletal components that spatially and functionally organize the neurotransmitter receptors at the synapse. This structure is not as thick or electron dense as the postsynaptic densities found in asymmetric synapses.[ PubMed:18832033 ]
