The GATOR (or SEA, Seh1-associated) complex is an upstream regulator of the TOR Complex 1 (TORC1). It is composed of two putative subcomplexes, GATOR1 and GATOR2. GATOR1 possesses Rag GTPase activating protein activity and inhibits TORC1 activity in response to amino acid starvation. GATOR2 suppresses the activity of GATOR1. Many of the subunits share features with vesicle coat proteins and tethering complexes and it is proposed that the GATOR complex plays a role in trafficking and autophagy. (Adapted from
