Mutation is in the 5' splicing consensus of the first intron.
Adult survivors transheterozygotes with RpL15PΔ2 or RpL15PΔ8 are sterile with underdeveloped gonads and show reduced body size, small and thin bristles, rough and/or reduced eyes, misrotated genitalia (males) and wing, wing vein and wing hair phenotypes. Reducing the growth temperature to 22oC (as compared to 25oC) increases the incidence of survivors. Sex ratios are also skewed in favour of males in the survivors.
N55e11, RpL15[+]/RpL1572 has visible | dominant phenotype, enhanceable by Su(var)2051
N55e11, RpL15[+]/RpL1572 has wing margin phenotype, enhanceable by Su(var)2051
In(3L)C90/+, RpL1572 has wing margin | posterior phenotype, enhanceable by Su(var)2051
RpL15[+]/RpL1572 is an enhancer of wing margin phenotype of N55e11
In(3L)C90/+, RpL1572 has wing margin | posterior phenotype
13% of RpL1572/In(3L)C90 males and 60% of RpL1572/In(3L)C90 females have a mutant posterior wing margin phenotype. The penetrance of this phenotype is increased to 100% if the flies are also carrying Su(var)2051/+. RpL1572/+ slightly enhances the weak wing margin phenotype of N55e11/+. The effect of RpL1572 on N55e11 is further enhanced if the flies also carry Su(var)2051.
