Hearts from flies expressing Scer\GAL4tin.CΔ4>phldsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa show increased end-systolic dimensions, decreased fractional shortening and thinner heart walls compared with controls.

Expression of phldsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa in the midgut under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP7397 completely inhibits midgut renewal and proliferation after Pseudomonas entomophila infection. Prolonged Egfr suppression in healthy animals (4 week)s leads to an almost complete loss of enteroblasts and an approximate 33% reduction of intestinal stem cells. In the short term however, Egfr suppression does not significantly alter the number of intestinal stem cells. Old enterocytes, generated before the induction of lineage marking are still present in aged midguts (~1 month), suggesting that enterocyte loss is also partially inhibited.

Similarly to wild-type, transgenic flies expressing Scer\GAL4ppl.PP>phldsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa and reared on medium supplemented with Apis mellifera royal jelly show increased body size. However, in contrast to wild-type flies in response to royal jelly, they do not display early eclosion compared with flies reared on control medium.

Expression of phldsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa driven by Scer\GAL4esg-NP7397 in adult midgut progenitor cells (AMPs) significantly decreases both the number and size of AMP clusters compared with control midguts from white prepupae.
