      Nsun2ex1/Y males hatch in expected numbers, are fertile and appear morphologically normal and fully viable. Equally viable Nsun2ex1 females show markedly reduced fertility.

      Nsun2ex1/Y brains do not show any major morphological deficits.

      Mutant flies show normal innate odour reactions and shock avoidance. However, they suffer from a drastic lack of olfactory short-term memory within 3 minutes after a single training in an aversive olfactory conditioning paradigm.
