The expression of Nhe2^{UAS.E358I.Tag:HA} under the control of Scer\GAL4^109-30 leads to a significant decrease in intracellular pH in pre-follicle and follicle cells within the germarium, as compared to controls.

Externally, the retinae of flies expressing Nhe2^{Scer\UAS.E358I.T:Ivir\HA1} under the control of Scer\GAL4^GMR.PU show subtle defects in patterning, including rare bristle placement defects. Internally, no ommatidial defects are evident.

The intracellular pH (pHi) in pupal eyes expressing Nhe2^Scer\UAS.cGa under the control of Scer\GAL4^GMR.PU is similar to controls.
