      Expression of DNApol-γ35Scer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4insc-Mz1407 leads to increased pupal lethality and reduced adult survival compared to controls. Mitochondria isolated from these flies display significantly reduced rate of mtDNA synthesis. In larvae (but not adults) the expression leads to increased level of apoptosis in the brain.
