This group comprises ionotropic glutamate receptors which are not selectively activated by NMDA and do not fall into the GluRII sub-type expressed at the neuromuscular junction. (Adapted from FBrf0209026.)
Notes on Group

Phylogenetic analysis in FBrf0206496, FBrf0211681 has grouped Drosophila non-NMDA receptors into the kainate and AMPA receptor subgroups. However, their pharmacology is not well-characterised and there is some debate as to whether they form these separate subclasses (FBrf0209026).
