Overexpression of AkhScer\UAS.cLa driven by Scer\GAL4Akh.PL significantly decreases survival under starvation conditions, compared to controls.

Mid-third instar larvae expressing AkhScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU exhibit moderately increased glucose levels.

Expression of AkhScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4fat largely depletes lipid storage droplets and organismal fat stores.

Expression of AkhScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4Akh.PL does not alter larval hemolymph trehalose levels. Expression of AkhScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4r4 results in larval hemolymph trehalose levels that are about 34% above normal. In addition, hemolymph glycerol concentrations are significantly higher than normal, while the triglyceride content of the fat body is reduced.
