Expression of Ir8aGD15330 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU (in combination with a Dicer-2 transgene to enhance RNAi efficiency) does not lead to a significant change in female feeding preference index for 1% yeast extract versus 5mM sucrose solution, as compared to controls.

In a feeding preference assay for amino-acid-depleted yeast extract supplemented with serine, threonine and alanine, females expressing Ir8aGD15330 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU (in combination with a Dicer-2 transgene to enhance RNAi efficiency) do not exhibit a significantly changed preference index, as compared to controls.

RNAi knockdown of Ir8a expression in Ir64a neurons through expression of Ir8aGD15330 under the control of Scer\GAL4Ir64a.PA results in a significant reduction in odour-evoked responses in the DC4 and DP1m glomeruli.

Expression of Ir8aGD15330 under the control of Scer\GAL4Ir64a.PA results in a significant reduction in acid avoidance.

Adults expressing Ir8aGD15330 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
