UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
Expression of CrebBKK108927 under the control of Scer\GAL4VT016811 or Scer\GAL4VT041043, in combination with a Gal80[ts] transgene to restrict expression to the 5-7 days of the adult stage immediately before, and the 24 h during, experimentation, does not significantly affect aversive olfactory long term memory in adults, compared to controls, when flies undergo spaced training.
1 day memory is impaired after spaced training, but not after massed training in an olfactory associative conditioning assay in flies expressing CrebB-17AKK108927 under the control of Scer\GAL4G0431. The defect in memory after spaced training is still seen if the temperature sensitive Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B allele is used to restrict Scer\GAL4 expression to the adult stage.
As CrebB-17A levels are decreased (through expression of CrebB-17AKK108927 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155) the increased lipid stores and starvation resistance of SIK2Δ41 flies are strongly inhibited.
