UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
Embryos and larvae expressing osyKK109988 under the combined control of Scer\GAL4da.PU and Scer\GAL4VP16.mat.αTub67C have apparently normal morphology but larvae immobilize, flatten and die soon after hatching, due to desiccation (survival of 11min in agar vs >2h in controls; survival of >2h in halocarbon oil, similar to controls. 1st instar larvae uptake Eosin Y at 40[o]C (but not at 25[o]C), indicating cuticle permeability.
Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4nub.PU also leads to adult wing permeability to Eosin Y at non-permissible temperature in controls (50[o]C).
Scer\GAL4elav.PLu-driven expression of CG33970KK109988 results in sleep defects in both adult males and females.
