Expression of eyaJF03160 (together with UAS-Dicer2 to enhance RNAi efficiency) under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PU leads to absence of photoreceptor neurons in third instar larval eye disc and consequently a complete loss of adult eye. Expression under Scer\GAL4GMR.PU results in rough eye adult phenotype but the photoreceptor neurons are recruited normally during eye morphogenesis and expression under Scer\GAL4ato.3'348 leads to a partial loss of photoreceptor neurons in the developing eye disc and small and rough adult eyes.
