UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a short inverted repeat.
Expression of brHMS00042 under the control of Scer\GAL4br.L (limited to the adult stages using Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B) results in an increase in the percentage of eggshells with shortened or absent dorsal appendages. Other features of the eggshell, such as the cell imprints on the chorion, are unaffected. Expression brHMS00042 during the adult stages under the control of Scer\GAL4br.E leads to defects throughout the eggshell, with multiple instances of eggshell thinning and loss of chorion imprints. After two days of brHMS00042 expression there are clear signs of loss of eggshell integrity. A large proportion of eggshells show dorsal appendage malformations, although some of these have well-defined imprints. Some eggshells produced by follicle cells expressing brHMS00042 under the control of Scer\GAL4br.E produce operculum-like chorion imprints in the dorsal domain.
Expression of brHMS00042 in C-IV neurons under the control of Scer\GAL4ppk.1.9 results in a reduction in total dendritic length in ddaC neurons. The total number of dendritic branches is also reduced in ddaC neurons.
