UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of a cDNA encoding 93bp of the 5' untranslated region (splice variant A) and the entire coding sequence of Cad99C. The protein is tagged at the C-terminal end with EGFP.

      Expression of Cad99CScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP in the trachea under the control of Scer\GAL4btl.PS results in apical membrane expansion and cell rounding, correlating with mislocalized Cad99C in the basal membrane.

      Follicle cell clones expressing Cad99CScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PP have abnormal bundles of microvilli and show defects in the vitelline membrane. Some inappropriately long microvilli persist through stage 12 of oogenesis, interrupting the vitelline membrane.
