Pex19ΔF7 maternal-zygotic mutants die at the end of embryogenesis, whereas zygotic mutants survive longer; most larvae develop to pupae, only 20% reach adulthood, and most of them die during the first 24 h. Both Pex19ΔF7 maternal-zygotic mutant embryos and Pex19ΔF7 zygotic mutant larvae show less abundant peroxisomes and larger, ballon-shaped mitochondria, as compared to controls.

Pex19ΔF7 mutant adults do not properly inflate their wings, show a significantly decreased climbing speed and show a significant increase in the number of apoptotic cells in the adult optic lobe, as compared to controls.
