59D4--E1;[>59E2]
bk1 << bw << bk2
Associated with a semilethal mutation or is tightly linked to one. Homozygous male escapers are healthy and fertile.
Homozygous lethal.
Dp(2;2)Su(Pm)/bwV1 has wild-type eye color with peppering of dark spots instead of the more or less uniform brown of bwV1/+. Effect on various bwV chromosomes varies from none for some to complete suppression for others. Pteridines of heads of bwD/bw Dp(2;2)Su(Pm) heterozygotes increased to 28% of normal from 2.5% for bwD/+ heterozygotes (Henikoff and Dreesen). Homozygous viable.
Kadel, 17th Feb. 1959.
Suppression of variegation by Dp(2;2)Su(Pm) is caused by the tandem duplication itself as the suppression disappears when the active copy of bw is separated from the duplication.
Tandem duplication of the bw gene and flanking sequences with 59E.
Tandem duplication of the bw region.
Left limit of break 1 from polytene analysis (citation unavailable) Right limit of break 1 from inclusion of bw (FBrf0050859) Left limit of break 2 from inclusion of bw (FBrf0050859)
