The sequence of the Pka-R2Cos-A1 mutant transcript is consistent with the underlying aberration being an inversion; the mutant transcript contains the third exon of Pka-R2 (this includes the ATG) but lacks the first and second exons of wild-type Pka-R2. Sequence from the 14-3-3ΞΆ and Jra genes (which are normally located approximately 100kb distal to Pka-R2) are present in place of the missing exons.
