Df(3L)Fps85D-Δ1 homozygotes are embryonic lethal in 53% of cases (n=180) with the remainder dying during larval and pupal development.
Late stage 16 Df(3L)Fps85D-Δ1 embryos are still dorsally open, while dorsal closure is complete in wild-type embryos at the end of stage 15. Df(3L)Fps85D-Δ1 embryos do eventually complete closure but 2% exhibit an anterior hole. The leading edge cells of Df(3L)Fps85D-Δ1 embryos form a greatly reduced F-actin cable at stage 14 compared to wild-type cells, but filopodia are present.
