Homozygous viable and fertile.
Homozygous male adults are reduced in body size compared to controls (this reduction is seen both in both body weight and wing area). Analysis of wing hair density shows that there is no reduction in cell size, but there is a decrease in cell number in the mutants.
Homozygous and control animals gain body weight at approximately the same rate during the larval feeding period. The timing of pupariation is normal in homozygotes but their body weight is reduced by approximately 6-7% (wet weight) and 9-10% (dry weight) compared to controls at pupariation. This reduction in weight in homozygotes increases to approximately 12-13% (wet weight) and 13-14% (dry weight) 12 hours after eclosion.
