FLP-mediated recombination between the two progenitor insertions has resulted in the deletion of the genomic sequence between them.

FlyBase curator comment: The "Df(3R)ranshi[1]" chromosome and the allele called "ranshi[1]" in FBrf0210119 (ranshi^e00091 in FlyBase) are two separate mutations. The ranshi^e00091 allele is caused by the PBac{RB}ranshi^e00091 insertion. The Df(3R)ranshi¹ chromosome is a different mutation derived by recombination between the Scer\FRT sites in PBac{RB}ranshi^e00091 and P{XP}d11678.
