Homozygous viable and fertile. The circadian period of mutant flies is approximately 30 minutes shorter than that of wild-type controls.
Mutant flies infected with an attenuated strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA14 plcs) at ZT17 (the reported peak survival time in a circadian cycle) show substantially lower bacterial titers 24 hours post-infection compared to control flies. Mutant flies infected with PA14 plcs at different ZTs show a dramatically shifted survival curve 48 hours post-infection compared to wild-type controls.
Mutant flies show a decrease in food consumption after starvation compared to controls. The flies appear hyperactive compared to control flies immediately after transfer from starvation to food vials.
Feeding rhythms under light-dark conditions are altered in mutant flies: the mutant flies show a reduced dawn peak and a larger secondary peak compared to wild type.
