Linearized chromosome recovered from R(1;Y)6AX2. This was recovered by 1) using FLP-mediated sister chromatid exchange to produce a dicentric chromosome with two bridging arms and 2) selecting for breakage and then subsequent healing of the double anaphase bridge in the male germline. The screen required males carrying the linearized chromosome to be viable, thus the breakpoints in each arm of the double bridge must be closely matched to produce a nearly euploid chromosome. In this case the left end of the linearized chromosome is at 19B, and the right end is in heterochromatin, resulting in the entire euchromatic portion of the X on one side of the centromere, and a small duplication of euchromatin on the other side.
