Flies are slightly larger than normal, and have large eyes with varying numbers of deranged ommatidia. Wings are broad and blunt. The wing margin is removed to varying degrees, ranging from a small incision of the inner margin, to removal of the entire inner margin, costal vein and parts of the wing membrane as far as wing vein L3. The region from vein L3 to the costal cell is unaffected, and veins L4 and L5 are rarely interrupted. Females have reduced fertility.
