Wings are short and very broad, and the longitudinal veins frequently fail to reach the wing margin and are often divergent. Eyes are large and slightly rough. Head bristles are reduced in number; ocellar bristles are most often affected. The thorax is broad, one or more macrochaetae are occasionally absent and microchaetae are more widely separated than normal. Male viability is approximately 40% of wild-type.
