Antennae are very swollen and deformed. Aristae are abnormal. Eyes are slightly pear shaped. Wings are upheld to various degrees and are frequently incised on the inner margins. Small additional sex combs are present on the 2nd tarsal segments of the forelegs in most males. Males are late in eclosion, fertile and rather inviable. Females are sterile. Eye colour: browner than normal. Body colour: slightly more melanised than normal.
